When Betty hit the menopause her symptoms all came on at once, with her brain fog; she feels a dunce! At night in bed, the hot sweat pours and her nightie is soaked right through she changes; then runs to the loo! Bill tries to speak and Betty ROARS as her mood swings are quite severe, he grits his teeth and says ‘yes dear’! She nags at him without just cause, and Bill’s wants are quickly dismissed… there’s no sex, it’s right off her list! He wished there was a get out clause but they’ve been wed for many years Bill understands, copes with her tears When Betty hit the menopause at night in bed, the hot sweat pours. Bill tries to speak and Betty ROARS she nags at him without just cause … he wished there was a get out clause! Inspired by Constanza Contest Best rhyming poem October to December 2017 Sponsored by John Hamilton Entered on 07/28/20 into Old or New Constanza poetry Contest Sponsored by Joseph May NB This poem was written by an English poet - so to the 'British ear' the rhyme is correct 11-19-17

I'm sorry for Betty...and for Bill:) I believe you have followed Connie's rules well, Jan, and I like the rhyming where no need was felt for twisting and turning. Hugs // paul

Thanks Paul, the rhyming in the final monorhyme is perfect for the British ear, but apparently its not acceptable for the US pronunciation of some of the words ... but the poem wasn't for the contest and I am happy that Connie enjoyed reading it:-) hugs Jan xx

I love the humor in this creative Constanza Jan! Some women have much worse symptoms than others and it does take an understanding man who can be there for better or worse. I am thankful my husband is understanding. You are a master at writing humorous poetry, but I can tell you excel at writing all kinds of poetry. Let your pen fly my friend! I really admire your talent! : )

Thanks so much for reading and commenting Connie:-) I loved the challenge of writing your form and this wasn't my original idea but I fell down with the rhyme on my other poem so I am turning it into a monorhyme instead:-) hugs jan xx

Thanks Andrea,as we discussed it is down to the difference between the UK and US ways of speech but to the British ear my rhyme is perfect and irrespective of that it's not for the contest so I really don't see what the issue is with a certain person:-( hugs jan xx

You did SO great, Jan. I see the rhyme that is in question. It's a British thing (the way you pronounce menopause is different for Americans, but I would guess that, if I knew it was not written by an American) LOVE this!!

Thanks Elizabeth, its been a challenge trying the form for the first time and i went for humour and had fun with the theme. I did start a serious poem for the contest but hit a snag so i will use it in a monorhyme poem instead:-) hugs Jan xx

I try and look at things from a humourous point of view Dale and because of the theme I didn't write it for the contest just for fun:-) Your poem is superb!!! how could i compete with that and other's I have read - its no contest lol:-) hugs jan xx

It's not for the contest Alexis, I didn't think the theme was appropriate and I won't be entering it and the sponsor has now read it anyway. I started another poem and struggled with the rhyme so I will make it into a monorhyme and post it when its finished:-) hugs Jan xx

Hi CayCay I had fun writing this poem - I am sure there are many (both male and female) that can relate to it in some way. I googled for inspiration and discovered there are 34 symptoms so I just chose a few or the poem would have gone on for days and I'd have run out of rhyme for the final stanza lol:-) I will reply to your mail asap:-) hugs jan xx
