Memories of Autumn Nights
On Autumn nights, under the watchful
eyes of stars, we shared fun and laughter
beneath their glow,
Listened to Crickets serenading the
moon,
Hours upon hours spent reminiscing
about days gone by,
With eyes closed, we saw reality leaving,
and dreams began to weave themselves
as we laid beneath the dazzling sky.
Autumn nights, long, damp and cold,
Warmly dressed, we would sit and listen
to ghosts' stories from days of old,
Children in Halloween costumes and
pumpkin baskets sang trick-a-treat,
trick-a-treat,
Painted little faces shout with excitement
as they receive gifts of toys and sweets.
On crispy Autumn nights, we would
gather in the park and patiently sit,
Waiting to toast marshmallows and
roast chestnuts around Bonfires once
lit,
The smoky scent infuses the chilly breeze,
Causing everyone to huddle close
together so as not to freeze.
Autumn nights bring nostalgic memories
back, a time for reflection,
And as the Bonfires began to fade, we
would leave each going in a different
direction,
With some taking the chance to reflect
as we navigated through the dark,
Then, one by one, we dropped our
negative thoughts and feelings
among the fallen leaves and wet
bark.
