Notes About The Poem

This is the last of my fisherman poems.

I was so infatuated with him.

It makes me smile to remember.

Memories of a Fisherman

I remember how you looked that day,
How happy, young and free.
Your sun bleached hair, your sun bronzed skin,
I watched you from the lea.

You never saw me standing there.
I'm glad it stayed that way.
We never spoke, we never met,
But I came every day.

I came to watch you cast your net.
You were my mystery man.
I whiled away the live long day,
Watching from the sand.

You seemed to have all you could need,
The surf, a boat, a net.
I close my eyes and click my heels,
And I can see you yet.

I like this. Fond memories feed the spirit, especially the ones that persist.

So - you were in love with a fisherman. The one that got away? I like to fish - I went fishing on a boat out of Brooklyn's Sheepshead Bay a while back and caught a flounder! Peace & Love Matthew Anish

We all need a 'mystery' man to indulge in such a satisfying secret! Beautiful!
