Memories

I think I finally know something
I had what seemed to last
One false move and it was in the past
I hoped for its thrill
But believed in it. But now belief burns
Off with the descent of the hill
Which is life
Starting to see some changes in everything
At the time it was the only thing that mattered
Then everything shattered
But I move on slowly repairing, recovering changing developing
Day in day out week after week
With each passing year I mature
But I’m also not so sure
If in this something is not right
If I went out of the frying pan into the fire
Or if my life is soaring higher
Was I right?
Or have I plunged myself into a terrible plight
Those memories are corrosive and are burdening me like a sack of weights
I am chary to remember them but there is no escape
Regardless I try, futilely I attempt, to forget
But maybe that’s not the way its supposed to be
Maybe im meant to cherish those moments lost in time

Justis, ,Welcome to Poetry soup, I hope you enjoy the community. Here, you will find friendly poets who enjoy supporting one another. I myself, enjoy reading and commenting those who want to be read. The only time I give constructive criticism is when a poet desires it. However, if for some reason the poem is not my field I will guide you to someone who is more qualified than I. Stop by and read one of my poems if you like. My poems are not perfect, but I have a feeling you might like one. I encourage you to check out the contest page and read to receive comments. Tell me a little about your poetic skills if you like. It will be my pleasure to follow and read every poem you post from here on :) We are Lucky To Have you. Your New Poet Friend @-> LINDA <-@

Life can teetertooter, can't it? I liked the allusion to corrosion... the idea of acid-wear. Some memories burn that badly. Time does change perception. But you're right, some things cannot be forgotten. We all have wished at some point they could be. It can help to have something else to focus on and POETRY? Well, that is a good way to redirect thoughts, oddly enough even while writing of what is really bugging us. So... after all that... welcome to Soup! (PS.. reading also helps ;) )
