Meltdown

What have I done? I’m breaking. This pressure splits me at the seams. I’m burning alive in my covers. My mind—it sputters and steams. I’m trying so hard not to tell you, I’m trying so hard to control, this amorous beast inside my chest, but my efforts have taken their toll. My heart denies alternatives, it seeks one prey alone. I tried to protect you; restrain it, but I’ve weakened while it has grown. Leave me! Escape! Unless you dare— to play fire-games with a waking bear. 9 May 2016

This sounds like a losing battle. I really like the evocative line, "I've weakened while it has grown." You've got a knack for sonnets, my friend. =) -G
