Melt My Heart

Hardened and solid white thinly coated in icy tears, so cold becomes the heart devoid of love for many years. No fires kindled in it's chambers the beat still steady, but growing faint, I accepted it and did not care to even issue a complaint. Time ticks on and changes hearts even the ones that cannot feel, I needed to know about love what its like when it's for real. So caress this heart of mine so gingerly as you take, because a heart so frozen can still crack and break. Let it melt away slowly instead of rushing to defrost, with gentle warmth near me all fears will become lost. My shyness, too, disappears when trust is truly found, resting in your palms fingertips embraced around. My heart is your trinket now held closely to your own, heating to a glowing red what once was cold as stone.

Hello again Kelly, I hope you're not writing about yourself. but, most poets have a little bit of themselves in every poem. This poem has a tendency of touching my heart. Because, I connect with it. I really love this poem you need to keep writing and never stop,... Your friend Roger

Hello again my friend. I'm glad you enjoyed this poem... Sadly, there is a bit of myself in this poem. I have always been a shy person and that can interfere with love and relationships, and shyness can come across as cold to some people, even though I don't mean to be :)

To love so dearly, and fully. To find one in whom to trust so much. Lucky you. You have penned this well.

Thank you very, very much, Scott... I'm still not sure if my heart is ready to be given to someone just yet...

Easy, flowing rhyme...effortless and thus adroitly conveys your message. I hope it stays warm. Particularly like the second to last stanza, which upon my reading's completion found me shouting 'yes!'.

Hi Kelly. It is so wonderful to discover love once again especially after believing that it will never grace us again. Then to finally get to the point that it can be trusted and we can relax and enjoy it . Beautiful poem, my friend...... Robert.

Cold hearts warmed to love again wow!! Awesome quatrain in rhyming, wording n flow. Very appealing content indeed. I like the 'gingerly' line much. We have to be cautious in love. Ends so gorgeous poetic. Soo nice to read from your pen again. Hoping u will too , my latest.

Hi Kelly! Love, whether in abundance or lacking has the power to instill us with inspiration as in the case of this beautiful poem. True love is not easy to come by, but once it arrives it becomes a gift for life. Wishing you all the very best....paul

Hello Paul, thanks for reading. I appreciate you taking the time to do so... And I agree with your comments. Love inspires every poet, for better or for worse, but it also teaches us to recognize true love and to appreciate it more when it comes our way :)
