Melody Moves

Melody moves dainty feet bare
as zephyrs whiff her fragrant hair.
Prima girl dances on her toes
though she cries, nobody knows...
muse-ical notes float in the air.

Pepper and zest enhance her flare,
yet pirouettes cause eyes to tear.
Music is wherever she goes,
Melody moves.

Up on her toes, ignores what's there;
dance for today, live on a prayer.
Still performing the pomp she knows,
delicate fluidity shows,
though broken, she does persevere,
Melody moves.

Dear Susan, nothing moves me more than a heartfelt write of persevering through life's challenges. Your daughter is beautifully represented here with your compassionate brushstrokes of music, dance, ballet, zest, and courage. I sense through your words how proud you are of her. "Dance for today, live on a prayer", indeed. She inspires, as do your words, dear poetess. Hugs/John

My dear John, your endearing comments are the epitome of the beauty of empathy and I am so grateful to have your shining presence express itself here. Thank you, for gracing my poem about my Julie, with your lovely thoughts and for sharing in the feelings of this piece. I am truly appreciative that her poetic story has touched your heart, as your precious comments have touched mine. For now, Julie's mitochondrial disease seems to be stable, she has graduated from college and now works as a clinician in the field of psychology. Indeed, she inspires me and loved ones around her everyday. Warmest wishes always, dear poet.. ~Susan

Strangely enough I had commented on this poem a while back, but there's no sign of it! Her I see a person suffering on the inside, her heart aches; thankfully she finds solace in dancing to melodies that momentarily heal the soul. ~ Warm regards // paul

Thank you for sharing, Susan; now the poem makes even more sense and it takes on a new dimension. Sending Julie a big warm hug, though I believe her mother deserves one too:)

P.S. I love your splendid interpretation Paul, and your right, this poem is about my daughter Julie's lifelong struggles with a neuro-muscular disorder called mitochondrial disease. During her childhood and teenage years her condition threatened her life several times, and fortunately, for now, she's stabilized and we hope for the best in the future. We never take things for granted and we take it day by day. I just wanted to share that with you my friend :)

Yes Paul, I believe you are correct, I think you did comment and it did disappear.. I've read several similar comments on others' poems about previously made comments disappearing as well. I'm so happy you are so kindhearted as to beautifully comment again, thank you, you are a true and dear poetry friend. Your lovely sentiments are truly appreciated.. Warmest wishes ~Susan
