Meanwhile In the Ether
While gasping for air a little bubble floated by
I was at peace, knowing the end was nigh
While sitting outside a warbler landed at my feet
Looking at me curiously, hopping along the concrete
While plucking words from the ether I had a thought
It left my mind, I remembered it, then again I forgot
While searching the same spot for the hundredth time
I found nothing again while listening to wind chimes
While playing guitar I entered a trance like state
Where I was free from fear, anger, frustration, and hate
While basking in the stillness before the storm
I saw shapes and shadows in the void begin to form
While pissing in the abyss I flipped my middle finger
I walked away satisfied like a victorious gunslinger
While lifting up my eyes to the hills I give God praise
His light shines upon me through the world's crazy haze
While discussing my next move I felt clear direction
And I felt confident there was divine connection
While putting it to a vote among my internal committee
I eschewed all self-doubt, self-loathing, and self-pity
While thinking about everything just once more
I saw an extremely long hallway with one, red door
While reviewing the remains of my old existence
I put on my new self and move forward with persistence
