Me in Three

I will do me in three verses of rhyme
(each verse with three lines.) I was once in my prime,
but now I just feel the fleeing of time.

I had many dreams a long time ago.
I was then simply a young adult though.
Now I keep writing of how fast years go.

Since the September morn on which I was born,
multi-colored hats of different styles I've worn.
In some ways I think that I am like a unicorn.

Love the rhyme. I didn’t know you were born in September. My birthday is Thursday Dec 11 and I’m going to celebrate by going to see Christmas lights at the Charlotte Speedway track with my mom. Good luck with the contest Andrea!

You succeeded in keeping it brief while maximizing creative and clever components. Very impressive and I like it very much. I'm not doing this contest, just didn't move me. SoupMail

Good one. It reads like a good contender for the contest or at least I think there is a contest because I have seen several of these with a similar theme. Thanks for sharing. Sara K

Dear Andrea, I think what I felt here was a kind of candid self-inventory, pared down yet layered. I also sensed a standing still for a moment, looking back and forward at once, and letting the mix of realism and whimsy speak for itself. Very Nostalgic! Autumn Blessings, Dear Andrea, Daniel

Delightful! My wife wears hats always when we go out. To spot her in a crowded store I remember the hat she's wearing. Making many of her own, they are always singular in style and beauty. Just like her. Through and through.

Haha the hats was metaphorical but I worried it would be taken literally. How cute your wife wears hats!

Very best to you, Andrea, with this wry perspective on your personality and your life in general terms. Your rhyme poem has frankness at its core. Thanks for your recent slant on one of my works Howard

Once we were all in our prime. But now, just like you feel, I can only sense the fleeing of time and the waning of energy. Yet, all is not over. Let us hope for the best. You have approached the subject from a novel angle. All the best, Andrea.

Once in your prime, feeling time flee, many dreams held for the world to see. A young adult back then, filled with possibilities. Now you keep writing how the years fly by, since that September morn ’neath the sky. Multi-colored hats, worn, like a unicorn you lie. Your journey’s unique, vibrant, stylish scope; time may be fleeting, but still, there’s hope. In rhyme, your life flows, giving feelings a slope.
