Me and Diana de Melker
1. Banana Peels and Giggles
(Sedoka)
You trip,I catch you,
You laugh before I can scold-
That's how we keep falling right,
Foolish lovers we,
Turning bruises into jokes
Our chaos makes peace
Mother Tongue
(Tanka)
The Morning
Your hands still tremble
To tie my laces I forgot
Every morning
Love arrives before sunrise
Softly smells of maize and prayer
The lesson
When the world burns loud outside
You hush it with one old hymn
How could I repay
The woman who taught my heart
To listen before it speaks?
