Truth of the matter 
Is truth does not matter

Mistaken for reason 
It’s humanity’s treason 

Belief is a thief
That reaps only grief

Maureen, this is indeed thought provoking for the time we live in. I think the title and the poem give us a lot to explore mentally. Belief based on truth eludes many of us who find it hard to look at things from a different perspective.

Hum... great rhyming but I must disagree with the content... truth matters to me as does belief... although humanities reason,i agree with you there! However your opinion is just as valid as mine! And perhaps this was a statement of the fact that people in general do not care what is true as long as they were raised believing it? That I can get on board with! <3 Excellent writing! Xoxo

Hey Mo. I'll keep religion out of this and just say you rocked these lines. Opinions matter but the problem is not everyone thinks others are entitled to a different one.

Truth does not matter, hmmm... You just trashed the entire education system, every 'I love you" ever uttered, every promise ever made, every prayer ever offered. I'm going to take this as satire and wish you a lovely weekend. PS. My belief brings me immense joy :)

Of course it’s a satirical musing; of truth being conflated with faith and fact, of our fallible minds. In my experience the only thing possibly absolutely true is a wheel, at least when I had a great wheel builder, but that’s just my spin. ;),
