Mask
Every day I get up
I put on my happy smile for the world
Underneath my mask, I feel nothing
Underneath my mask there is nothing
I am nothing
Can’t you see through me?
Can you feel the sadness through my fake laughs
I know you can tell I don’t mean the words “I’m fine”
Don’t ask if I’m “okay” if you don’t want to know
If you’re not going to care
I’ll put on my mask for you
For everyone
So you all feel comfortable
So you all can pretend that nothing is wrong
I’ll be here though
Crying and holding up my mask
Holding up fake dreams
Holding up fake smiles
Hoping that one day
I’ll fade away
