The marionette spun and danced to the sound played by the weary and weathered banjo man. She staggered with jerky leap and stuttered bound that thrilled the children as only a doll can. Her wish as she was thread about and around was that she were real and her own moves could plan. Sad were her eyes as she schemed and dreamed to know the world outside this traveling minstrel show.

Fated to dance by the pull of the string, how much she must be missing her own independent moves. You have given the marionette an identity. Great metaphoric poem !

You totally personified her Linda; I think that many people can probably actually relate to her! Wisdom threaded piece. This is incredibly well-written and insightful. <3

Thank you for looking deeper into my poem Betty Jo. I suppose there are people who feel entangled by many different threads being pulled in many different directions. I hope they see that only they can pose their path. I appreciate your visit and comments. Linda

Would a marionette wish to be alive and dance in a way that pleased only her?

Perhaps. Maybe she would want to decide for herself what would be pleasing to herself and to her fans. One dances to what one feels in the music (or silence).
