It's Mardi Gras time down in New Orleans ~ it's a carnival of memes Where the people sing and play ~ there's music in the streets, both night and day Everybody's having fun and drinking wine ~ because it's carnival time "Throw me something mister" as parades go by ~ that's the Mardi Gras cry Bourbon Street is the place to be ~ if it's boobs you want to see for free Better part of town is where many go ~ night parades led by Flambeau* *Flambeau is the name given to men who carry torches as they lead nighttime parades. Long held New Orleans tradition.

I see internal rhyme in your Monoku that makes for a delightful read. Never been to Mardi Gras...not sure at my age, that going would be safe. Nevertheless, I can envision it with your poetry. Have a great evening, Sara

Tom, I wouldn't let you go to Bourbon St. wink wink. It's quite rowdy there, day and night on weekends during Mardi Gras.

There's little of it I take part in these days, Bill. But seeing it through the eyes of my grandchildren is a whole new adventure. Thanks.

It's certainly an experience. My 9-year-old grandson saw his first parade 3 years ago and never gets his fill. Unfortunately, he lives in Orlando, but he'll be here for a few days before Mardi Gras day. Thanks, Linda.

A nice string of monokus, my friend. New Orleans is way too much for me at Mardi Gras. I prefer to visit in November. Much less subdued.

November and October are the best months where weather is concerned. I used to ride in parades but had enough of that years ago. Thanks, jerry.

The celebration of Mardi Gras in New Orleans focuses on the lively and festive atmosphere of the carnival, and the traditions, activities, and spirit of Mardi Gras, including parades, music, drinks, and the unique culture of New Orleans is inspiring, Lin. Your word reflects the vibrant nature with phrases like "carnival of memes," "music in the streets," and "everybody's having fun." captures the informal and lively atmosphere of the celebration. Thanks for your kind comment, Lin.

Mardi Gras is what you make it, depending on what you want to see and how brave you are. I gave up going downtown in certain areas... not the kind of things I want to see, but it's still very family oriented if you know where to go. Thanks, Lasaad.

What a pretty picture, Lin! Boobs! Shaking me head…I have some…don’t need to see the sordid. Some women in a car, once exposed themselves to my hubby. He told them, my wife’s are better. I laughed when he told me.

Ha ha. Your hubby is a keeper. Lifting their shirts gets people to throw beads at them.
