March Muddle

Chimney smoke from the house a door down Seems to have blurred out the moon The step's a bit high for my short girl legs But the closest one's coated in ice Patchy powdered pixie sugar Hides away crop circles Melted lava sorbet spills Across cold winter skies The grayblue sky A cherryblossom purplepink The plants by the wall are frozen peas I think of saxophones, shiver (SAIL!) Thinking sideways, thoughts on meth Orange peels and window flies (SAIL!) the sad poet's gone away (SAIL!) yes please, I'll take the lot Sweating off the dull dead laze But dehydration now objects Cold dark sidewalk small bare feet Winter storm the ice-coated bush All leaves one question-- Where's the snow?
