They are going to put up the prices But say we will hardly notice the cost They plan to increase the standing charges But spread them out so we can’t see what we’ve lost The standing charge it will increase But the cost of the gas will go down When the meter reader arrives I guess he may start to frown For people won’t be able to use any gas They will struggle to pay the standing charge Some will put on another blanket and jumper And wish that they lived on a barge It’s the old folks I feel sorry for Their pension provisions hardly rise It’s fuel or food – which should they choose It really is cause for alarm Manx Gas has the monopoly There is no other provider we can choose Folks may consider switching to oil heating Then Manx Gas are going to lose Suppliers need to look after their customers Without them they may go bust So use your voice – we have a choice Vote with your feet find someone you trust 13th October 2015

The heating problem effects everybody, especially those who are always having to make ends meet. Cost of living goes up, but wage/pension increases are not enough to make up for it. Do not abandon your water bottles...they are reliable and reasonable! Hugs // paul

I have a wheat pillow constantly heated Paul and a blanket - at least I am able to move about but sadly some are stuck in a couple of rooms and they have to have the heating on no matter what- such a sad state of affairs :-( hugs jan xx

This needed to be written - I have a feeling you got this one straight from the news, a great source for emotion. Well-written and the theme is, oh, so true. I enjoyed the read, Jan ... CayCay

How exciting - you made an impact. I don't know how you pulled that off, but I am impressed and delighted that such words were broadcasted. What exciting news! CayCay

Much as I do not support communism, it is situations like these that gave rise to such ideologies...this monopoly. Good way airing your thoughts, Jan! hugs!

We simply don't have a choice Michael - thankfully the house we purchased has oil heating - we learned that lesson quickly when we started getting the gas bills in our rented accommodation:-) hugs jan xx

Heat or eat for the elderly is such a dilemma - we cut down on our consumption for our gas bill 19 years ago when we were in rented accommodation - I was so shocked when we received the first bill as it was during the summer months - thank goodness we moved out before winter set in!:-( hugs jan xx
