Man In the Dark
In the dark, he lurks.
always around the corner
like one scared of coming out.
but he's no coward.
only bidding his time
I looked into his eyes.
I saw the beauty in it.
also the guilt in it
of evil, men thought he did
He said to me:
I'm only a messenger.
a debt collector
an errand man
I am a man of my words.
I will surely come.
even if I tarry
I will surely come.
I will come and take you away.
to a land unknown to the known
in the silence of swift movement.
leaving heavy showers
leaving thunderclaps
I will surely come; I always do.
