Making Ice

When I need ice, I fill the trays
With water, by myself,
And place them in the freezer
On the left side of the shelf.

When frozen, I remove the cubes
And fill a Ziploc bag
So they will be there waiting
When a drink I want to snag.

I do not need an automatic
Feature on the fridge
To make my ice, improving life
By just a little smidge.

Some modern day conveniences
Are things we just don’t need
But so many think from drudgery
Such short-cuts keep us freed.

I am too old for ice cubes! My granddaughter insists I am pre-ice age as I use a fork instead of a whisk to make omelettes. At the end of WWII, my uncles bought an electric range for my grandmother but she continued using her kindling wood range to the end because she could tell the correct time and temperature better than electricity! Aloha! Rico

Made me smile ilene, we dont have an icecube tray, just plastic bags with 'pockets' which you fill with water and freeze, saves the freezer getting iced up:-) hugs Jan xx

Aw, c'mon Ilene. Don't you miss the sound of those ice cubes automatically crashing down into the tray just when you are enjoying some peace and quiet?! LOL... This 'must-have' has got to be right up there with the 'indispensable' electric can opener... Btw, do you use Alexa or Cortana?! LOL. Here's to a 'normal life.' Best wishes, Gershon
