I was inspired by my experience the other day., I'd lost one slipper. Searched everywhere. Then I noticed it was on my foot. They claim sadly, many babies are born by mistake. But it's the poor baby's fault, but the, two or more danced the tango together. What do they expect?.

Have you ever been forgetful When you're busy with a lot on your mind As I do from time to time Or just like me a scatterbrain Like talking on the phone too long And it ends up being a costly mistake You smell something burning Then realize it's the oven and it's your cake Have you ever gone shopping for new clothes And thought mmm that's nice So you buy them and when you go to another store The same clothes are only half the price Searching for your spectacles High and low In the kitchen even under the bed When you suddenly realize their Sitting over your eyes and on your head Taken photographs That never turned out And remained aloft Only then you realise after the penny has dropped You never took the lens cover off Ever been late And met the wrong person Upon a blind date And you go red with embarrassment Feeling ashamed When you call them something That’s not their name Been on holiday on your own As soon as you get there You want to go straight back home Have ever bought flowers for someone On a windy day By the time you’ve reached their house All that’s left are flower stalks The flower heads by now have blown away Tried to impress everyone demanding attention Thinking you’re an incredible dancer And everyone laughed and began to chant You have tucked the back of your skirt Into your underpants After a hectic busy day, you do something you never meant to say Suddenly the room goes quiet Then you pretend you have nothing to say Traumatised you apologise and feel bad you get up And quickly walk away Ever left something behind on a bus or aeroplane On a ship or a train Never see what you lost Ever again Go for a meal on your own And everyone stops eating And begins to stare You wonder why It’s just so unfair When everyone’s sat with someone Usually in pairs Ever been to the wrong house that looks Like yours not thinking a bit tipsy and drunk And In the darkness head spinning you go to bed Wake up in the morning only to find it’s not your partner But a fuming stranger instead Been caught out completely soaked in the rain And one smart so and so with one poorly brain cell Think it’s funny I hear it again and again Is it raining outside? No I reply I always jump in the shower with my clothes on Then let them dry No one is perfect and it’s true Although we pretend we are Not even I and not even you Peter Dome©2024.
