Made of Black

Some, Not accustomed to my mental strength, Say to me; You were brutalized and terrorized Humiliated and traumatized Yet you smile and speak with dignity, You walk like a dignified giant- So I say to them: I am made of black To walk past experiences, I am not vilified by history I have a story of my own to write, Battles of my own to fight I am gratified to live for humanity. Some, Not quite accustomed to my contentedness, Often demand to know The indefatigable drive behind my composure And so i tell them with a composed voice; I am civilized enough within To appreciate and respect creation As long as I live And to fear only the creator Before I die. I go for civility ahead of stupidity That; if you ask me Is my understanding of humility Oh! yes indeed I'm gratified to strive for humanity. Some, In utter askance at my stature Get it straight from me Before they motion for it by word of mouth; I am made of black to exist With pride, made this way to subsist. Celebrated in the myth of creation, This life taught me To regard another as an equal creation That's what make me Smile and laugh off the stupidity of racism, That's what inspire me to live on As you can sure see… I am gratified to live for humanity.
