Ma Bell, Where Art Thou

Ma Bell, Where Art Thou? I just constantly need to be shown how to work half the gadgets I own. At my now older age the new “Smart” phone’s the rage; I still have not mastered a DUMB phone! (I posted the title again because Soup's title line disallows question marks, which I find are very necessary in some poem titles! And I bet if a young'un reads this, they won't even know what Ma Bell represents! BTW, it was the name of the telephone company used by many in my childhood. It seemed to have a monopoly on land lines!) For "Techno-Limericks Poetry Contest"

This is how so many of us feel that grew up as 'The Beaver' was innocently getting mixed up with some troublesome pals. Thank you for making me smile at your dumbfounded admission to being a non-techie. p.s. I'm glad that you did read my rhyme about 'A TREE'... and I appreciate your comment.

Such a cute poem, congratulations, Andrea! (I agree...quite often my titles need a question mark, or exclamation mark...and it falls flat without it. Wonder why we aren't allowed? )

LOL I haven't mastered a dumb phone either, Andrea. Very witty write! Congratulations on your success in the contest. The competition was stiff, so all who placed had to be in the top tier of both Alexa's and my rankings. Love, Carolyn

sheesh ,,, what do you mean by Ma Bell? yeah I wish! heh heh. Still remember the party lines and waiting for someone to get off the other end so you could have your turn to call someone. This limerick is well done and humorous to boot. Great job of it Andrea . Told that about the party lines to my God son the other day. He is 18 and was incredulous over it!

ha! a good one! I was just thinking the other day of writing about this because my dad had to go to a class to learn how to use his new "smart" phone! but you described if perfectly so now i don't have to write one :P also, I agree that questions marks should be allowed in the titles - maybe we should ask them about changing that. anyway, i will be looking for this poem on the winner's list :)

I am very familiar with Manhattan Bell, but I guess my youngster days are behind me. I reeeallY Really love this one. These gadgets and phones do get a little ridiculous. Ma Bell's got the Ill Communication-Beastie Boys line!---a great trilogy of NYC Poets! (In my book)
