Lyricists

lyricists are heaven sent
while poetry is the height of language
it does not touch the heart
as do the millions of songs
on a daily basis
that is because the heart is simpler
an organ than the brain
add delightful music
millions become unafraid to sing
and if we poets are to be honest
truth be told that Shakespeare
in all of his tavern days never heard
that's me on the jukebox

Timothy Ray June 21, 2022 at 6:03 PM i understand..i create some of my most endearing romantic lines listening to romantic songs...but the depth is mixed with metaphors and mythology that i have reaped from poems and what matters in all of this .....what makes the heart sing....poetry is for the serious student, it is the height of the language...

To me, poetry is even easier to commit to memory when it is sung to a memorable tune.
