His kiss seemed to burn through my heart Sending chills down my spine, I was taken apart With him I told my dear Granny that I loved him She smiled and said it’s not love It’s not what you feel It is lust Lust is a killer of friendship and laughter It brings about pleasure that Will never be lasting Only momentary It binds the heart to its wicked pleasure Forever disgracing the true treasure Of a love that will always be there Fulfilling the heart’s prayer It forces the spirit to be shaken deeply Beyond what you might imagine It leaves painful impressions That plead bad directions It is this lust that kills the truth of love A love that flows like a river Forever a willing giver To its true love Granny was always right in the end The love I thought I’d found Was merely a yearning A desire within I didn’t make it very long with this man And it was a lesson to understand That love alive on the inside Is far from a simple burning Passion never trumps real love
