In moody silence, nursing my shallow bruises I sat outside in the graying hours of the night Staring into the dark cloudy night sky With nothing to cheer my sullen spirit My hair left in shabby mess, By the mischievous passing breeze My thoughts slipping out of focus, Like tiny specks of leaping fleas A circular pale face, though not in full sheen, From behind the nebulous veil, Showed up all too sudden Looking at me with a beaming smile I thought of a thousand smiles Which kindle and illumine the universe The love hidden in all things That eclipses all bitterness and curse Like ripples in a still pool Caused by pebbles hurled By the naughty kids’ wanton hands A strange sensation unfurled Tearing down the pall of gloom Wavelets of cheer grew Coming off in wider circles Changing my mindscape into brighter hue A new moment was born And in the ceaseless beat of my heart I sensed a new rhythm, And knew all my dullness depart! The moon sure does have that calming effect you've described so well, Valsa. (Just say NO to the Sun!) ~ Moonbeamer, gw

Our moods and perceptions change with the rise and fall of the moon. Good luck in the contest, Valsa. A poet friend in Texas, Bill

It is a different world at wee hours of the night. This mood is dark and cold like your moon who is just doing his job. Glad for our capability to summon brighter things! Good luck in the contest Valsa!

Valsa, as you so eloquently express, something about sight has the ability to hypnotize our brains. As the moon grew more apparent, I detected a change in the mood of the crowd, from melancholy to mirth. Blessings

I could feel the emotions transitioning from moodiness to smiles as the moon emerged. Something about that sight that enchants human minds, as you so expertly convey, Valsa. Best to you.
