Lullaby

Darkness envelopes us, like the sheets that drape
As we lay together, welcoming Night’s Slumber
Like ivy that entangles, our bodies entwined
Skin on skin, so smooth and soft
Your chest a pillow, inviting my head
Your heartbeat like a drum, resounding in my ear
Beating out life
I taste the sweetness of your breath, warm on my cheek
Your hand trailing down my back, fingers getting lost
Combing my hair
Feeling your chest rise with every breath
Like warm milk to a babe
Like a soft song floating in the air
You are my lullaby, lulling me to sleep
As Night’s Slumber washes over me
