Low Hanging Fruit

The Enquiry
Is over

They did not find
the missing and murdered
whatever
they were looking for
But every woman knows

Why

There are so many
missing and murdered
Aboriginal women
As every woman knows

Why

There will never be
an Enquiry
into the men
who murder women

But every woman knows.... wow, these words mean so much more, as a guy im often oblivious to these thoughts, great writing

So sad. So poignant. So compelling to learn more. So sad. Great one, my friend.

Thank you Caren. The scale of the tragedy should be inconceivable. I used to much more proudly Canadian, before this story, and the residential school program broke. My country broke my heart. xomo

This is so stirring, you give voice to a silent tragedy, love the line 'but every woman knows'

A poem protest for sure...Maybe you're right, nothing may come of it...but I say...the truth must be known, for future generations to understand...

Absolutely true. It is just so frustrating to me, to have taken so long and spent so much money on why, when we know why; money and time much better spent on homes, roads, schools, running water... I know, that is not how a bureaucracy works ;) xomo!

Males are basically dense because the possibility of a male being raped or murdered for innocently walking down a street in broad daylight never enters their head. Quite a conundrum when one consider most males have mothers, sisters, wives, girlfriends, etc. Keep it up, Maureen! Aloha! Rico

...and it is never far from a woman's mind. I bought a personal alarm for walking alone at night. Thank you my friend. xomo

The earth’s blood cries out to God and when his mercy brings in the crop, he will avenge without mercy. Womankind feel these women in our bones, all harboring the agony of each one as if they were our very own.

I like that idea of you god. I wish it was seen at least as a women's issue, it might then get a little more attention, but alas, we know otherwise. xomo

Our government has gone as far as admitting it's genocide. There are too many reasons why, not enough just fix the disparity. Ask the right questions. It boggles my mind.

It has just occurred to me that this poem has taken me as long as the enquiry itself to write.
