Love Proposed

He sat beside her in the park bench,
On a beautiful balmy morning,
Breezy and pleasant after a drizzle;
Birds came out of their temporary shelters,
And chirped and chattered and whistled.
A pair of butterflies in a tree nearby,
Fluttered their pink and purple wings in joy,
And danced around each other: a moment
So perfect, he assumed, to propose to her!
She sat gazing at the distant gulmohar,
He took her hand mustering courage
To face her bold and beautiful face;
Then he muttered, stuttered, and finally uttered:
"Will you be with me forever?!"

this is SO cute, and I see it won with Line's contest. BIG belated congrats!! I am just working my way up from the bottom of when you started writing and posting here. Are these ALL your poems posted at Soup or do you have many not shown yet? When I came here in 2010, I had many poems that I slowly posted over time but now I think almost all my poetry is up here except for a few odds and ends and since 2015 almost all my poetry is fresh!

I love how you described the delicate aspects of nature in preparation for his proposal. "Muttered, stuttered, and finally uttered" so perfectly captures his nerves and the love that finally overcomes them. Best wishes in the contest, Anitha.
