Notes About The Poem

MARK MASSEY orginally created a tune to go with my lyrics. He says he had to take it off Youtube, but he found a way for people to still hear it at this link:

Love Becomes An Ocean

Barefoot we spend our time in spring,
Just giggling kids - how sweet the dream
When we, in love are blossoming.
We splash inside a cool fresh stream.
Our time in spring - how sweet the dream!

A few years pass; there comes an ache
for something more in summertime.
We feel such heat! Down by the lake
we soothe our ache. It is sublime
down by the lake in summertime!

Refrain:
Love is a stream, and then it grows.
A river soon - through life it flows!
And two enduring to the end
see love become an ocean then!

A rushing river, wanting more,
through highs and lows, still so in love,
we roll down to the ocean’s shore
where memories we’ve plenty of!
We stroll fall’s shore, still so in love.

An ocean of devotion lies
ahead of us – deep like the sea.
Our souls live on; the greatest prize -
to share out love eternally!
Oh winter’s love, deep like the sea

Refrain: Love is a stream, and then it grows
A river soon, through life it flows!
And two enduring to the end
see love becomes an ocean then!

Andrea, This is lovely. Love seen flowing and growing deeper, wider and stronger as it journeys from its source (Childhood love in all its naivety) down by the lake (youthful love with all its excitement) to the ocean (adult love and all its realities) Cheers - Gary

From a trickle, it is so thrilling to watch love growing into a stream, a river and then into an ocean of limitless breadth and length ! From the giggling kids to adoring man and woman, love has been steadily growing with fluid ease. Congratulations on your great win Andrea !

Andrea, I love the flow from a stream to a lake, then a river into an ocean. "An ocean of devotion." And when you get to be my age, "Oh winter's love, deep like the sea"! Congratulations on your win on Mile 6 of my 2022 Poetry Marathon Contest. Mile 7 has already started!

I love how fluid and flowing your lines are, reflecting the movement of the stream/river/lake/ocean you depict. Beautiful imagery of love growing over time. Your meter is so spot on, I can see why this would have made a lovely song lyric. Congrats for another marathon win!

Love the thought here of two in love starting out as streams and love becoming stronger in time, likened to the ocean. Sadly, the youtube link no longer works, so I wasn't able to hear the tune.
