Love At First Sight Anacreontic Verse

Abandoned
by your own mother.
How could she
leave you to die?
You were helpless,
bedraggled and weak.
When I saw you
my heart melted…
who could resist
those huge blue eyes.
I scooped you up
and carried you home.
You cried for your mum;
but she was long gone.
I gave you warm milk
you drank thirstily;
then fell asleep
in my arms.
I begged my mum
to let you stay.
From that day
you stole my heart.
I fell in love
with my first kitten.
