Love

Love can feel like lust, only more durable and sublime The flip side of grief, a lot less trouble, mostly divine Whenever this develops, a warmth envelops our spine Without love, all human life would be callous by design Sometimes love’s totally blind, yet the only thing we see Comes unreciprocated too, when never meant to be In the eye of the beholder, grown men fall to their knees Deny ourselves its grip, we’ll never know true gravity A blessing within a curse, on occasion breaking hearts When loved ones expire, comes the horror of being apart We still feel their presence, eerie phenomena may start Grief wreaking havoc in the mind, not weakness on our part Still love stays the course, from past generations to beyond A thread so powerful, death itself fails to break its bond

Few escape love's realities, but if our time arises, we may weep, we may cling to the past or if we are able we move on. A damn somber yet sobering sonnet, David stick with it! Love & xhugs my good fellow!

Heya Anaya, truth is we really don’t know how to deal with love or it’s loss until it happens, yes somber, sobering, and perhaps philosophical was my approach here, cheers David

Heya Kim, I’m delighted this one evoked memories of your dad’s angst, in a good way of course, as exasperation is a huge part of losing a loved one, cheers David

Thanks Lin, I was perhaps trying to express love without using romance, by taking a more philosophical root, I’ll save the limerick challenge fo another day lol, cheers David

aww David. I'm sad to learn you missed the contest. Your sentimental sonnet would certainly have touched her heart as it has mine. Forget the limerick challenge... you don't need it.
