Love-Roots
I love you before love itself was born,
And the feelings were created and made,
I loved you before Venus sounded her horn,
To appear from the sea and shade,
The Hellenic beauty-virgins who mourn,
The lack of men who ride,
Sea-horses and chase the mermaid,
And the legends of the unicorn,
And the fairy-tales that were laid,
To the old past the...unworn,
