Joyce Johnson Poet Rhyme

Lost Words

Sometimes I catch them easily,
The words I'm reaching for;
At other times watch helplessly
As they crash to the floor.
I try to reassemble but
They've landed in a jumble.
I grab too fast for floaters and
My chair and I both tumble.

Susie thinks it is hilarious
And joins into the fun.
Before she hears my "stop", she has
Already swallowed one.
I am truly very sorry
There are no poems from me.
You will know why when I tell you
My dog ate my poetry.

Mitch White June 21, 2010 at 1:46 AM Creative and too funny- my dog has never chewed up any thing at all- except for one single time I wanted to record his nightly wretched barking he would do when the 7 or 8 deer would come to sleep in my back yard each night- I bought a 40 dollar digital recorder and set it on the porch just before sundown- and waited- in a few min I heard a crunching and went out there- it was in 100 pieces lol
