Lost Hope

On the plight of this garden till when to grieve
Will this nest its glory retrieve

The companion birds have all flown away
O cypress trees and roses! Permit me to leave

Thanks Linda for your most encouraging comments. It is so uplifting. My sympathies for your loss. Keep her memory fresh as I have done. Her every word, every guidance, every desire is carved on my heart, not to be erased till I die. I feel sad that the letters she wrote to me which I had preserved were destroyed when miscreants set my house on fire in Bangladesh. How much I treasured them! I'll surely read your poem Metamorphosis.

Just back to read again, thanks for your explanation below, helps a lot. Wondering how you are doing with your back pain. I know it can be so debilitating; hope you can get the help and healing you need. :)

Thanks for your encouraging comments, Mia. You are always lavish with your praise. I am grateful. There are only two books of Rubaiyat in English language - one is Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam and another my book Rubaiyat of Josh Malihabadi - A Drop and the Ocean in the market since 2007. Mohammad

This makes me want to know more. Was it winter that the garden withered, did the birds and person leave for that reason too? I never knew India had cold weather but wish I could know more about your country. I feel a sense of loss in this Mohammed but enjoyed the magic in it.

Thanks for the interest you have taken. The Middle Eastern and Far Eastern countries share all the four seasons. In most places, however, the winter is mild and dry and there is no frost. In the hottest days of summer, a hot pestilential wind called Sumoom blows. It virtually destroys the gardens and devastates. It is this period most species of birds except crows and kites fly away to milder regions, some of them never to return back. I am sure you will now enjoy the poem more. Best wishes
