After living in Mobile Alabama for almost 10 years, I decided to move back to New Jersey.  I was born in the Atlantic City Inlet, where I lived until I was 14.  My parents then moved to Northfied, New Jersey.  After being in the Army for 20 years I retired in Alabama.  I moved back to New Jersey in 1998, that is when I found all of my childhood memories gone.  Friends and other writers told me they liked the poem but, it is so sad.

Where have all of my childhood memories gone? I often see visions from an earlier time Imbedded deep within my mind, They take me back to my boyhood days, Where everything was done in simpler ways. I once went looking for familiar places, To help me remember the past, But there was nothing I could find That was standing from an earlier time, I did not find a house I once called a home, I found no school, no familiar streets, And childhood friends are grown and gone, Sometimes urban renewal can be very cruel And keep us from remembering the past.
