Lost Amongst Despair
I’ve been in this place many times,
Where nothing interests me but sleep-
It’s a place that I hate revisiting-
It is where I run to when I am lost.
The night is black,
The pavement is wet.
There is no one around,
And I am left with myself.
I am a tortured soul,
My thoughts run like toxin;
They seep throughout my fragile mind.
I lapse further into despair.
I am running.
The trees beside me are a blur.
With every stride more anger flows.
All of my frustration is concentrated; propelling me forward.
The sky holds all of the answers,
And for just a moment,
I feel like I can disappear;
Into the blackness that surrounds me.
Trapped is the girl that I once knew,
She is alone and encaged by my ribs.
For there is a difference between;
Who I am and who I’ve been.
