Losing It (Five Haiku)

kaleidoscopic! not those here-and-now colors but in memory cloudy sky is filled full of black twiggy branches a large crow shoots past picket fence and trees standing tall like sentinels like sad sentinels comes-on quietly so benign the sensation so bloody empty! this revelation times at last you think you know shrug! alas you don’t fleeting memory self-flagellation head-shake another one lost again and again scene full of twiggy branches black crow descending

Daver, I really enjoyed these. But I count seven, not five! This all reminds me of getting old and how fleeting our memory is. Good ones number 5 and 6 to capture that idea. Love your haiku, and I found number 2 to be the most like the kinds of haiku that get into the magazines just for haiku. Thanks for your sweet comments today. Did you know those two poems that happened to get featured were two of my entries for the soups contest? LUv, Andrea

Great sequential in Haikus Daver. Reminds me of the many times I thought I had my purpose figured out, only to be proven wrong. Smile, Sincerely, Moses

Powerful poem, Daver! The black crow deserves a sequel; I want to see him soar again, aided by the knowledge of the "revelation" and not destroyed by it. Awesome writing, my friend! Love you, Carolyn

Your creative style is a treat to read. Good use of imagery. Yes, West Fargo, ND...and it's bitter cold and windy today. Kind of takes your breath away. Keep warm in Michigan and keep on writing. Thank you for your kind comment. Karen

The could mean so many things to each of us....it seems to me, there are memories of past mistakes, regrets, errors in judgement, and pain that continue to hover like crows.... Let us build a HUGE enduring scarecrow, and rid ourselves!! :) Well done, Daver! (I may have missed the point?) .....Luv, Carrie
