Lonesome Willow

LONESOME WILLOW L onesome Willow all alone, O nly you this spot has grown. N ot one other shares this spot, E lm or Birch or Bergamot. S eems to me such beauty rare, O ne shouldn't hide, it should be shared. M y lovely little Willow tree, E ver solitary, thee, W ho stands beside the babbling brook, I n this quiet, hidden nook, L ovely to my weary eyes, L ike a balm to all who spies, O h to lie beneath your leaves, W hen day is done in evening breeze. Lovely Judy, funny I found your lovely verse; I wrote "Up in the Willow" probably on another page. I love willow trees and your rhyme gives a lovely picture of it.

Absolutely priceless, Judy. I can relate to that lonesome willow - a similar scene seems to crop up from reading your poem. Love, daver

this is a sweet one, Judy. I sure love this kind of tree. It's the tree of my Celtic horoscope, means "melancholy" and I am sure feeling that way these days! Luv, Andrea

This reminds me of Joyce Kilmer it has that feel to it and it is wonderful to read. I love an acrostic that has complete sentences not just descriptions but you took this a step further and rhymed this to gorgeous perfection!

You bring the loneliness of this willow tree to life, Judy. I could "feel" it throughout your lovely acrostic. It may stand solitary now, but if you do lie benieath it, the solitary loneliness will disappear for both you and the tree. Love, Carolyn

Thank you so much my friend. Actually that's my tribal name. And it sort of fits me too. I've always been sort of alone. Even at a party you would find me sitting by myself. Thanks so much for stopping by and for your kind words. God Bless, JB
