Lonely Bird

It’s time now to leave my lovely, lonely bird
Bravely soar, your sad songs should be heard
Born in the hail of a horrific hurricane
Harboring hallowed cries of hidden pain

Shear feathers shimmer, glimmering so soft
Embracing grace as you gently glide aloft
Your song as you soar becomes spirited and sweet
Divine, not weak or deafened with barbed defeat

Swiftness swells as you spread your strong wings
Time now to travel and embrace foreign things
Mesmerized with water’s mirrored reflection
Your shimmering image greets you with affection

Flying freely, your heartbeat grows fierce
Realizing the reality your spirit’s not pierced
Tiny winged warrior wakens deep depths of fire
Knowing now nothing can quell your desire

You, little bird, are stronger than you know
Surviving the storm somehow made you grow
Fear is not frightening for friend is the unknown
You know by yourself now you’ll never be alone.

Very well done Judith, i found myself questioning if there was alliteration in this poem at times only to be amazed at how smoothly it flowed and blended into its rhythmic cadence.

That is one sad bird, this poem is deeply emotive and I could feel the angst in this one.. Your alliteration and rhyme helped with the flow of this poem.. I hope that bird finds its strength.. Great take on the contest.. Congratulations on your first place
