Explanation for Poem:
Death has followed me all my life ... my sister, aunts and uncles, cousins,
my dad and mom, my baby, my husband, grandpa and beloved grandma,
all these loved ones are but the stars above watching over me each night.

Living Without A Loved One

When young my sister died while walking home from school. Will never forget mom's screaming, that day. My Dad so suddenly, left this world ... Mom was slow, I watched her fade away from me, still weep. Baby, boy was born dead. I held him to my heart, he never took a breath of life, why God. My Love my heart and soul. You were struggling with life, haunted until you crashed your car, why God. Grandma, you lived till old, leaving me special gifts, of storytelling and writing, thank you.

Congratulations on your win. I enjoyed reading your amazing write/story. I do Not know why some people have more pain in their lives. I feel you pain. I am so very sorry. Had 8 deaths in 3 years with mom/day 6 months apart. You were blessed to have your Grandma. One died when I was a baby/other did Not live close, did Not see much. Oh, how I wish, I had one. Have a blessed day with your wonderful win...............

Touching piece, Constance on the death of loved ones... As we age, the list gets longer and longer, doesn't it? Congrats on your win here but more so on the topic and piece you entered.

Very sad Constance, losing loved ones is heartbreaking but we treasure the memories that we we have of them. Your grandmother sounds like an amazing lady that supported you during your loss. Tom

Tom, thank you for the compassion and comment, yes grandma was my rock, losing all my family was hard but I was desperately holding onto grandma, she was 94 when she passed, could no longer talk sentences or knew who people were but she called me angel and would stroke my cheek that was something I will treasure forever ~

Kim, my grandma was very important in my life, she was my safe harbor. She took care of me after my sister died for awhile. I loved her attic room, she encouraged me to write my feelings and we would read my words together, gave me a journal and thus the poet was born. But, more than that she was a storyteller (nothing written down )and I would listen for hours, at her funeral I spoke (nothing written down) ~
