The flickering neon lights
seduce the young with their glow.
And flash sexual delights,
hinting at things they can't show.
Youth witnesses wrong and right
through the optics of a teen.
And searches the black of night
for a world they've never seen.
They quickly learn they've been fooled,
by all the hype and glitter.
And fighting tears, they get schooled,
treated like back street litter.
Exposed to degrees of fright,
living shadows skulk and dart.
And late at night, out of sight,
their fantasies fall apart.
