Living Losing

One of life's greatest challenge is learning to live with loss. The loss of those
who are close to us, whether through death or divorce. No other thing in life
brings such pain and struggle. Hearts torn in half, words never spoken,
unfinished plans. Family members becoming more distant since the loved one
has passed, being unable to deal with the loss. Things change, people change,
circumstances now changed. Time goes on, time has no sympathy for those
who are left here. Time can be cruel to us, reminding us that we are still here
watching, working and living. While those we loved can no longer share those
moments with us any more. Oh to hear their voice one more time, to see them
smile, to hear them laugh, to feel their hug, to hug them again so tightly.

We must embrace this loss, it is life's mandate to feel it, to go through it. All of
us will experience this loss. One day we will be the one leaving others behind to
experience the emptiness of our passing. We must learn to enjoy the days we
have with those who are in our lives. The Bible say we are all like grass, here
today gone tomorrow.

So in conclusion if we can allow ourselves to work through the grief and the pain
we feel, we will learn we have the ability to grab on to that which is most
valuable. Time will also let us know that those we have lost in this physical
realm in many tangible ways they are still with us. There is a beauty that stays
with you from each loss, a beauty that emanates from each loss we experience.
We cherish what they left us, deep within us. It remains undimmed as years
pass.

Sometimes I see each of them at different times in different faces. We
hear them speaking to us through others, a word, a child's laugh, a cliché; and
we smile to ourselves and pause to remember. A song, a book, a place where
we use to go, certain smells in the air, all of these things reminds us they are
here safe within our thoughts. A piece of them will always be a part of us. That
part will be passed on to those we leave behind, blended together through the
memory of each who has come into our lives, a circle that is endless and complete.
