Living Light

Living light at play against, The clear northwestern sky. Vivid hues of blue and green, And gold and pink fly by. It writhes and twists in crisp cold wind, And billows gaily out, In rainbow colored curtains, As the wind blows them about. How wonder-filled this gay display, Of lovely living light. How blessed am I to see them play, This crisp northwestern night. Judy Ball The Northern Lights or Aurora Borealis is one of the seven wonders of the world.+ Nov. 2010 For Francine Roberts "Write Me A Happy Poem" Contest

One day, I'd love to see the Aurora Borealis. You've described it so well here!

Did you know there is also the Southern Lights, called Aurora Australis? Never saw those but I'm sure they are just as nice. Thanks so much my friend. Glad you like this and if you ever get the chance visit the Northwest in Fall. God Bless, JB

I live in Alberta, Canada though I was born in Fla.The Northern Lights are seen in Fall and Winter. Sometimes they drift down like a curtain and blow in the breeze. Sometimes they shoot across the sky or writhe and twist like ribbons of light in the wind. I wrote this a couple of years ago in September. God Bless, JB

Good, poetic write. We visited Iceland a few years ago, but we never saw the Northern Lights, unfortunately. Love, Robert.

Too bad Robert. We live in Canada and they are great here. You have to get away from the city lights to see them but they are spectacular. Thanks for stopping by. Glad you liked this. God Bless, JB

the elfish lights in skies remain, a grateful sight is never lame, not lightenings rather loud refraim, a modest form of lighting... sweet as, Don

Thanks so much for stopping by again Don. Few people know about the sister lights. Aurora Australis, The Southern lights. The Northern Lights get all the p.r. but I bet the Southern Lights are just as spectacular. Have you ever seen them? God Bless, JB

LOVE this, Judy, and the strange current is most likely coming from my neck problem and running down my back. I am waiting to get my arm back to normal before I even attempt to figure out this other problem! KEep up making these wonderful quatrain poems.

Judy, this is lovely. I've always wanted to see the Northern lights! And YOU are right, its considered one of the seven wonders of the NATURAL world, for very good reason. Now, :-), it would seem that we could have another wonderful contest if we listed what we THINK the wonders of the world SHOULD be. :-) Wouldn't that be a lovely contest worth reading? Hugs from Cyndi

Thanks bunches Cyndi, Yes it would be a great contest or even to pick a Natural Wonder and write about that or even what all the wonders of the world mean to you. What you think about when you see or think about them. If you do a contest like that I will for sure try to coe up with an entry. :) Did you know there are sister lights called Aurora Australis or The Southern Lights? God Bless, JB

It is considered to be one of the Natural Wonders of the world. Man has created a few ie. The Great Wall of China which can be seen from space. The pyramids, (it's a wonder they did that without modern tech. but look how many slaves died doing it) Anyway my friend, Thanks bunches anyhoo. :) Glad you liked it. God Bless, JB

Judy, Your description is just beautiful, I've seen them dancing in the sky and it is amazing. Your verse does credit to the phenomena.
