Lives Took a Change
We were lanky and thin back in 1971.
Having the time of our lives. Oh, so much fun!
One ended up married later with a wonderful child.
The other woman disappeared on a spring day, so mild.
We all suspected the guy she had been dating.
Knew him as Lee, but she said our questions were grating.
He was terribly secretive about his former life.
We girlfriends suspected he might have a wife.
He had a bad temper. We warned her too.
She disappeared on a weekday, straight out of the blue.
None of us had his number, but we all suspected him.
The one to call the police was my cousin named Jim.
She was a wonderful girl, a terrific cook a good friend.
None of us know whether she is alive, or has met an untimely end.
We have waited forty-nine years. Where can she be?
If I see that scoundrel Lee I will tie him up to the nearest tree.
We will ask him questions, and this time he had better answer them.
The problem is if I met him on the street I might not recognize him.
