Little Lad and Big Dog
A little boy can be a dogs best friend
I'll tell you my story from long ago
A young cowboy in a game of pretend
Watched a black lab as he moved really slow
Then came a siren blaring through the air
The big black lab he whimpered at the sound
Who would have thought that a small child would care
Hands placed on ears as dog sat on the ground
He looked at me with those sad doggy eyes
He stopped his shaking and waged his long tail
A lump in my throat it started to rise
I had a new friend who would never bail
You never know where you'll find a new friend
Moments of compassion is all it takes
This friend was real in my land of pretend
Dogs love you they don't care about mistakes
