Literacy
LITERACY
Why do you read poems, what is in it for you?
Getting insights, awareness, discernments, visions.
Reading makes you a better writer, it connects your
emotions, experiences and exposes you to other
types, forms, styles, genres, voices of writing.
Why do you write and what is your main objective?
To reflect on your feelings, emotions, experiences
that are in your thoughts, thoughts running in your
head finding their way out that you express in words.
That is plain literacy in action, read and write.
Now, what do you want to do with your writings?
Share, relay them to others and maybe, they can
relate to what you are expressing, telling, writing.
How would you draw the readers in, pique their interests?
With the title of your poem, conveying the subject of the
poem for the title is the first thing the readers see and read.
The title should catch the readers’ interest to read the poem
and tell what you want them to think while reading the poem.
Consider expressive, vivid, poignant, emotional words and
imagery that can arouse the readers’ emotions and interests.
