Notes About The Poem

Limerence

Infatuated
by obsessive
urges and desires
he swims in
seas of illusion
where fluctuating
intense waves of
longing and despair
play havoc with
his fragile heart.

Another fantastic poem Paul! And with a romantic tone - seas of illusion being the positive of course, rather than delusional. Warm regards, Laura.

Hey, you got me to look up the word limerence with this one, and it makes great sense since you defined this kind of individual so well. (I had heard the word before but completely forgot it had to do with obsession!)

There is nothing quite like infatuated love to toss one about. Oh what a ride! You expressed so much in so few words. The sign of a true poet.

Dear me....someone needs to save him. Sometimes...such people don't want to be saved because at least, though buffeted, they know that they are alive.

I can understand your reasoning, too, Eileen. There are times when love and infatuation are only separated by a thin line! Thank you for stopping by...hugs // paul

Infatuation is intense, lets hope the agony is not prolonged to his fragile heart Paul. Reflectively poignant....Maria

A fragile heart is so tender and vulnerable Paul, especially while swimming in seas of yearning illusion. A sadly beautiful poem of infatuated love with superb and heartfelt expression. Loved it! Warmest wishes my friend.. ~Susan

Nice write, Paul, enjoy the short lines that give it a sort of tide -in, tide-out feel, waves on the beach. Regards, Viv
