The glamour of a prestigious school lured her far away.. two years would whizz past, of arduous work, immersing in books, away from home, away from her beloved...she assured him. rushing to the station, he wished her all good luck, holding a bouquet of Lily of the Nile...she admired ! petals shrivel, flowers wither, the moment does not. "the moment does not" - True. Many even live only for relishing and cherishing those precious moments. A touching work. Congratulations!

Wow Mala, this is fabulous! You could make your last line into a wonderful modern Haiku… “petals shrivel flowers wither, the moment does not” This romantic beauty needs to be put into my Faves. I hope this is a top winner for you Mala. I loved it! Blessings xxoo

Thank you, Connie. I am learning so much from you. I will take that line, and create a haiku. Connie, I am very sorry - I am so late in replying your comment. I was not very well for last few days - I feel so fortunate “ Your Fave”!

This picture prompt has inspired you well, Mala. Both subjects of your poem put on a brave face, though I suspect that deep down there is a reluctance to be separated for so long! The lilies of the Nile will certainly be kept close, long after they wither! ~ Best regards, my friend // paul

Thank you for the comparison to Hemingway, Mala, though my neck hurts when I look up at his stature :) Joking apart, it is true that I am economical in words; my ideas have to be expressed quickly so I'd be able to breathe freely. :)

Thank you, Paul. A story in a few words of free verse - my favourite. Your thoughtful words inspire me - I very much like the brevity in your poems. Reminds me of poems by Ernest Hemingway.
