Lilacs

Lovely flowers whose blooms
Last only for two weeks,
Lingering with a scent
Like perfume, with hues of
Lavender, white, pink, red,
Light blue and a purple
Lifting the soul with joy!

It was when I visited the US that I saw Lilac's for the first time. I had wanted to see it when I studied about Lilacs in Leaves of Grass by Walt Whitman. These cluster flowers are so lovely especially of lavender shade. Beautiful Pleiades, Andrea...

lilacs are the ultimate gift; I do not think mine last the entire two weeks, but I can smell them when I close my eyes; I am glad to know that you can grow them too

Lilacs were my mothers favorite spring flower. She was from the Midwest. She always spoke about their beauty and scent but I never got to see or smell one until I traveled on vacation to Bavaria in 2007. They are unforgettable! The tree I encountered was lilac colored. This is a lovely entry for the contest Andrea. Blessings xxoo

Yes, i always saw them in Iowa, where I grew up. Not sure If I see them much around Utah.
