Light On the Devil's Chord - Day 17

“The Lord will show Me,
Has shown me, where your mind lies….”

I began to wonder if I was lost in that statement to him,
That fear and desire had blinded me to rush such an assertion
Upon my quivering lips, that had longed for the burning of his touch
I grimaced, my heart pounding in my chest
How could I deny such pain inside me?
Could he not sense my confliction,
The fine lines between His light and my shadows…
My body clenched in all of the possibilities,
The cries of the maelstrom distracting me, even soothing me

His voice, chocolatey, velvet in red purpose,
Softly spoke as my eyes beheld his fixation
“I am the ultimate wanderer, dear love,
My mighty legs moan for movement,
Bones creaking for friction upon new lands
Wings training on the edge of impatience
It is in my blood to wander as your mind does,
For here I am, agonizing,
The only balm, the hope of our rise,
So that I may grow with purpose on brim of mattering
Your luscious legs have felt the thrill of the wind,
Of a child’s heart thumping at the peak of a storm
Your wingless back has credulously curved,
To pivot forward in your beauty beyond
To pursue the tempests in peaceful lands…”

His voice sharpened with his dreadful glare…
“But you have found yourself here,
In the midst of my growing pains,
My legs beg to stretch,
Toward you, they palpitate
My wings scream for the heights you have tasted
My eyes gazed down at nothing but my own feet
For too long, or not long enough!
So now, you are here, mockingly,
Waging and warring in your silence,
Unable to share such wandering thoughts
With the tongue that licks your latent future. . .”

I sang softly to him,
“Wanderer, your anger rises to my ears,
My sifting tears,
My heart

You cannot fly justly with me,
Turning toward the many shadows of the sun
I am your light here, and I am right here
How further do you venture?
With the theme of love,
I offer rest to your wings
Sleep to your eyes
And smiles to your lips
I offer you a moment to reflect
A moment to project such thoughts
With a receiving soul

The region of the unknown
The path of obscurity,
And the threat of turning stone,
Is where my thoughts do wander
And you, oh drifter, do clasp my hand,
Leading me into this wilderness
I shall not leave just yet, oh Prince,
As your seething heart so fears
I am right here, and I am your light here…”

Clasping my hand, he marveled at the sincerity in my eyes
He searched for a way to stir my tremulous core
“Oh flight of light,
My how you fly, wingless bird,
Singing your hope in me
What of us, oh blooming rose?
Will you give me reason to wander no more?
Can you bear to leave this wretch alone?
Is it possible to break this stone?”

An evil determination molded upon his face
As he held my perturbed stare
“You shan’t leave me,
You would not dare...”

In agony, I turned away

“The Lord will show Me,
Has shown me, where your mind lies….”

So there is a conflict. Do we try to live with this man (devil) or not, and will he stay? I don't expect you to be able to tame this one, but we shall see. There is likely no happily ever after here--just eternal struggle. As we say, you can lead a horse to water. Each chapter is such a surprise. I know you are having fun!!

There is something so steady, mature, clear in the emotional truths that skyline the ultimate conflict between these two tormented hearts Laura. This section of the epic has a very unique quality in it's voice, it's revelation. It is wondrous! You've taken the spirit of this epic write to a new level of pain, desire and hope, and you have begun and finished it with a most viable epiphany. The final verse is riveting, such hot emotion and movement...J.A.B.
