Life With My Animals
Queenie a white dog with an oversized face
Loved to slurp our entire faces with her giant tongue
Adored riding her when we were young
Did not stay on long
Spot a cocker spaniel mix always chased cars
Loved to be loose, but my parents put her on a chain
She had a sad life, eight miserable years attached to a dog house
I never wanted a dog at my parents after this
Tommy a black and white kitten with the greenest eyes
learned to make a “mama” newborn sound
Which woke me up out of a sleep when he got shut outside too long
Was inside and outside
Lucky, a gorgeous Newfoundland mix puppy
She lived to be twelve; was our gentle giant
No one liked us better than Lucky
She would have died for us
Peepers, a calico cat, who had nine lives
A combination of browns, whites and oranges.
My daughter Angela’s favorite animal ever
She lived to be twenty-one
Blue, a husky puppy, lived to be ten
One brown eye, one blue eye
Kept us entertained.
Growled at anyone who was cross with me
Sophie Helen, our current cocker spaniel pup
She could use $400 worth of dental work.
My husband rolled his eyes and said “no”.
“We don’t even spend that kind of money on our own teeth.”
Shark, our current tabby,
He lives up to his name.
Has his own kill room.
Don’t ask to see it.
